Two tracks off Ingram’s 2021 CD, 662:
I didn’t catch up to Kingfish until I went to Chicago last month. First readers, though, we’re on him early. Blues enthusiast T. David Brent has been a fan for a few years. He commended Ingram’s version of “Fresh Out” with Buddy Guy. He also linked me to this parody song about the parlous state of a limping tradition by Rick Estrin (“one of the three or four best blues harp players extant”).
Per C. Liegh McInnes: “Kingfish is from my hometown, Clarksdale, Mississippi. Ingram is a well-known family name in the town. I don’t know him personally. But, I attended high school with many of his aunts and cousins. Sometimes, I think that Kingfish was born about thirty years too late to be appreciated fully for his talents. Yet, his ability to keep traditional blues and rock-n-soul alive is testament that he’s just where he needs to be.”
Seems like there really is…
