Jonas Mekas was always a live one, but he seemed to become even more of a presence in the cultural conversation as he grew older. To cite just one example, Journalist John Leland leaned on Mekas in Happiness is a Choice You Make (2018)–Leland’s book of “lessons from a year among the oldest old.” Leland did one of the last Q&As with Mekas which you can watch at Mekas’s website or on YouTube. What follows is (the second, juiciest) part of an interview Mary Elizabeth Borkowski conducted with Mekas on WKCR back in 2009.
