Obama’s performance in the lst Debate was disappointing because he chose to trade numbers with Romney in some pitiful defensive stance rather than attack the fundamental principles of Romney’s candidacy. Most people barely understood the back and forth about numbers, but they certainly understood that Romney was clearly more confident and aggressive pushing his far Right “hail to private enterprise” agenda.
People are not impressed with Obama trading numbers as defense of his lst term. It is more important that he jump on the essence of the line which says the private sector is better and government is oppressive when it tries to provide fundamental services a corporate dictatorship will not.
That the President would present such a retreat mode instead of fighting the very ideological presence and the actual results of such a stance as exampled by George W. Bush, who was not much mentioned by Obama, is deeply offensive.
It was W that created the deficit with his military and class wars.
Obama must attack the Corporate Dictatorship that Romney represents not go quietly fetal so that he will not seem to be attacking capitalism.
But Obama must attack its abuses and Romney’s false homage to the “American people” which is like an overstuffed gourmand admiring the hens as he gets ready to dine.
Likewise the pure doo doo Romney sprays about “free …under God” when he belongs to a church that said that Black people were too evil to be Mormons until 1978.
There are too many examples of politicians we elect who become so enamored of the institution the people sought to change by electing them, that they shrink from the very movement that got them there. Get up Obama, Fight Back, Attack!
